May long weekend in Budapest, Hungary

So Andrew and I went to Budapest to see my old flatmate Miki who I used to live with in Ealing he is Hungarian and since has gone back home.

It’s a beautiful city and you can tell in it’s day it was very grand but now a days seems a little empty and run down.

It’s been awhile now so I don’t remember it all so clearly in a nice order but here are some pics of the city, the one of all three of us is us on the Buda side of the city at the castle. We then walked back down to the river and had a big lunch which you can see here, I like the pancakes the most they were savory.

There were also a couple weird sites along the way like this statue of a man falling off the side of this wall…and this sign of a man walking down a flight of stairs with a flower.. not totally sure what they are trying to tell you or warn you about but funny none the less.

One night we went for an authentic good meal on the Pest side of the city by the river as well and we went for a stroll along as well as you can see here from another one of Andrews lovely pics. One big downside of the trip was however in the land of lovely smoked meats I could not eat any.. as deli meats is one of the taboo items for pregnant ladies.

One day we checked out one of the spas, hot pools. They were much more impressive than the one in Bath old architecture big fat old wrinkly men wandering around and playing chess it was wicked. Indoor pools, outdoor pools one that were hot ones that were not. And then another day Andrew and I went and had facials that were amazing. They were 2 hours long and a little painful but worth it to have every pore looked after and cleaned with care. Afterwards Andrew and I with our blotchy faces had a tea and cake to relax.

It was great to see Miki!! And see his new home and where he works and what he eats hopefully next time we see him he comes to Vancouver and we can show him around. Thanks Miki.
